Description

wooden box with black plastic phone receiver attached; phone cord attaches to receiver and bottom left side of box; left and right sides of boxes front have grooves that would have acted as speakers; 6 black toggle switches on face of box; switches are marked in gold letters (top row); "Batters/Clark/Dewar/Greig/Lancaster/Rowe" (bottom row) "Battes/Campbell/Cochraine/Falconer/Kew/Miliken" Top of box has a brass plate fastened by 2 brass screws. Inscribed on it is "E.E. Varah/A MEMENTO FROM THE EARLY DAYS/FOR A VALUED ASSOCIATE" back of box has hole.

History

Early Ford Motor Company telephone equipment given to donor's father, E.E. Varah, upon his retirement from Fords -Oct 1st 1971. Varah was communications manager at Fords in 1940's.
