wooden pipe; cedar; tar covered exterior, spiral bound with wire, inside uncoated; longitudinal split, c.1" wide, entire length; friable in some exterior areas; wire, some tar and wood;

History

No actual use known for this pipe, although it could have been for fresh water. It was cut to present length to make handling easier. Shrinkage accounts for difference in diameter and in the cause of the open split, found during excavation of Metropolitan General Hospital grounds.
