History

The thin arm of this old instrument, whether home made of wood or in its later nineteenth century types of iron, whether moving stiffly on rivet or fixed by a thumb screw, it is adjustable to any angle which the carpenter wants, to pencil or scratch along it when he holds the thick arm against the margin of his work Belonged to Francis X. Drouillard, born in Walkerville in 1823. Francis died in 1912 in the same farmhouse along the river where his father was born in the early 1800s.
