History

This tote was used by Big V Drugstore to carry/deliver prescriptions. In September 1962, a buying group of local pharmacies was formed under the name Big V Pharmacies. In 1964, with the purchase of the Ponds Drug Store chain, the buying group transformed into a retail organization. In 1967 there were 17 Big V stores, and by 1982 there were 62 stores across southwestern Ontario. In 1995 Shoppers Drug Mart acquired 135 Big V Drug Stores.
