Description

black and white portrait of Edward Allworth, M.D., Kingsville; "Supplement to the Windsor Review No. 35" written along bottom;

History

Dr. Edward Allwroth was a prominent citizen of Kingsville. He married Ellen King, daughter of Col. James King (after whom Kingsville was named). He was a member of the Masonic Order and Lodge Master (St. George's Lodge) and conducted the ceremony for the laying of the cornerstone of a new parish church in June of 1891. The church's original name was St. John's but Bishop Bladwin announced it's name change on All Saints' Day (November 1) 1891 to Church of the Epiphany, to commemorate the day the first sod was turned. Dr. Allworth along with Jasper Golden was named the first wardens of the new parish.
