2x2bw+ slide; Photographic postcard of Lloyd C. Allen as a teamster for the Cadwell Sand & Gravel Co.; shown here on the north side of Sandwich St. W., between Church St. and Dougall Ave., he is leaving the vicinity of the brickyards; a large pile of brick or clay piping can be seen behind the team on the Cadwell property; sitting on the coachman's stoop, Lloyd holds the reins to a team of two horses; the other four, unidentified men stand on top of a pile of clay piping in the wagon, or walk alongside.

History

Lloyd was the son of George and Hortense Allen. George Allen owned Geo. Allen Livery & Feed Stables located at 44 Pitt St. E., and was superintendant of the Windsor Jockey Club and caretaker of the Windsor Driving Park [now Jackson Park]. Lloyd also worked as a teamster and lumber sealer with his father, hauling wood from Yawkey Bush. Lloyd appears to be in his mid to late thirties in this image.
