2x2c+ slide;Black and white photograph of the three-storey British American Hotel looking Northeast from the foot of Ouellette; the photograph shows the pediment with a lion at the top in the centre of the building; there are several men standing in front of the building around the stores in the first level; "Coal Office" is printed on one of the windows; the British American Hotel was demolished in 1975 and the Piazza Udine, part of the riverfront park system, now sits in its place.

History

The name of the British American hotel reflects both the British heritage and the American influences felt in the Windsor area. There are reliefs of lions, beavers, and eagles on the facade of the hotel. There is also a beaver zinc sculpture, which was preserved when the hotel was demolished.
