2x2bw+ slide; Black and white photograph of the old Windsor Post Office Building, circa 1932; the building is a tall, three-storey stone structure with arched windows and doorways and a flat roof; the top floor has ornate stone window ledges and carved into stone in the the front of the building is "A.D. 1879" (above the second floor centre window) and "POST OFFICE" (above the main door); in front of the building is the stone Boer (South African) War Memorial and four men; to the left of the building two cars are parked at the curb, facing away from the camera, streetcar tracks are in evidence and the Windsor Business College is partially visible in the background; the photographer's stamp "A.W. Spurgeon, 1117 Sheppard St. E. 2-4402 Windsor, ONT." is on the back of the photo.

History

The old Windsor Post Office was built in 1879 and stood on the southwest corner of Pitt and Ouellette streets. It was replaced by the Dominion Building in 1934 and is now known as the Edifice Paul Martin Building. This building still houses a post office.
