History

Donor purchased fur coat for $100.00 in 1972 from a home on Victoria Ave. (Windsor) after estate sale. Originally owned by one of the "Churchill sisters", the sister-in-laws who were from the southern USA told the donor that their brother married one of the sisters and was a doctor, he was the last to pass away. The couple lived in the original house . Donor wore the coat occasionally with the mittens. The coat was relined by Arpin furs in the late 1970's or early 80's, and the mittens have since been lost. There was an article in the Windsor Star (Nov. 7, 1972) about the Churchill sisters who were known to wear fur coats and parade around with parasols long after the styles had changed.
