Description

Black and white photograph of five young men & women; the people have been identified as: Pheobe (Seward) Martin, Lauchlen Patrick Morrison, Hattie (Seward) Needham, John Archibald Farquharson and Etta (McGlashan) Needham; the three girls are wearing dark dresses with high lace collars; each of the three girls has her arranged behind her head and both Pheobe and Hattie have curls along the sides of their heads; the boys are in dark suits, are sitting on chairs and have their arms crossed in front of their chests; an elaborate backdrop with columns and a painting is visible behind the students; "Entrance Class" is printed beneath the photograph, as are the numbers 1 through 5. (The students are identified by these numbers on the reverse of the photograph); no.2 ia Lauchlen P. Morrison and no.4 is John Archibald; the photographer's stamp: "Barron & Walker" is visible beneath the photograph and the students are hand written twice on the reverse.

History

John Archibald (1868 - 1950) was brother to Elizabeth Farquharson, mother of Neil Farquharson Morrison, who was a noted Windsor historian. John married Esther Ann Hayes. Lauchlen Patrick Morrison (1868 - 1953) was the brother of Captain James Donaldson Morrison Sr., father of Neil Morrison. Lauchlen married Florence Mary Rains (1872 - 1939) and had two children, Mary & William.
