George Jasperson was born on July 26, 1852, in Kingsville, where he grew up and obtained his education. At the age of nineteen years he went to Michigan, where, for six years, he was employed in the lumbering industry. Over the next number of years, George was involved in many different enterprises including a sawmill on Pelee Island, a second mill in Coatsworth, Romney Township, a roller mill and grain elevator in Kingsville and a tobacco plant in Kingsville which he operated with his brother Bonzano. In April, 1900, George, Bonzano and Darius Wigle bought a preserving company's plant and gave exclusive attention to canning peaches and tomatoes.
