Macdonald; the girl is standing with her body facing the camera and her head turned slightly to the left; she is wearing a light coloured dress with ruffles at the bottom and buttons running up the centre; she has boots on her crossed feet; her right arm is leaning on a desk behind her and she is holding a strand of large beads in her right hand; behind and to the right is a chair with a basket on top; the photographer's name, George Bruce, appears at the bottom of the photo and a more elaborate seal appears on the reverse: "Prize Medal awarded International exhibition of fine arts, London. George Bruce Photographic Artist Dunse NB Negatives preserved". Handwritten on the reverse is: "Daughter of George Fortune, Mr. George F. Macdonald's mother's brother."
History: Dunse Scotland was renamed Duns in 1882. The Fortune family was from Duns, Berwickshire, Scotland. The NB may refer to North Britain or possibly to Berwickshire.
