Black and white photograph of Mr. George Fortune, brother of Mrs. Colin Macdonald; Mr. Fortune is sitting on a chair with his body angled to the right; the tops of his legs, torso and head are all visible in the photograph; he is wearing a dark suit with a jacket and has a full beard; the photographer's stamp: "Davidson & Son Photos Dunse" appears on the bottom of the photograph; a more elaborate stamp appears on the reverse of the photo: From the Photographic Studio of D. Davidson & Son Portrait & Landscape Photographers South Castle Street. Dunse. NB Copies sent to any address on receipt of seven stamps." Hand writtin on the back is: "George Fortune - brother of Mr. George F.'s mother".

History

Dunse Scotland was renamed Duns in 1882. The NB following Dunse on the back of the photograph may refer to "North Britain" or pertain to Berwickshire the parish where Duns is located. The Fortune family was from Duns.
