Description: Photo of an unidentified doctor approaching the residence of his colleague, Dr. John Wesley Brien, on Talbot St., Essex (Ont.); the I.O.O.F. Lodge, once used as a municipal building is clearly seen across the street; notice the religious aspects of the building's architecture; a triple-arched entrance with columns is mounted by a double-arched balcony, giving the appearance of a temple; the round clocktower turret with conical cap completes the church-like appearance of this unique building; Dr. J.W. Brien was a past grand master of the No. 218 Enterprise Lodge of the I.O.O.F. [pictured here]; the doctor pictured here is likely Dr. C.W. Procunier, with whom Dr. J.W. Brien shared a joint medical practice down the street.
History: Approximately 150 glass plate negatives, including the one for this photo, were found in the wreckage of the Brien residence by Rodger Saegert, after it was demolished in May 1959.
