History

Glengarda began as a convent for the Ursuline order in 1919. The name Glengarda comes from an Italian lake, "Lake Garda, which was the home of the founder of the Ursuline Order. The structure seen in the photograph was built in 1938 to serve as both a convent and a school for developmentally challenged children. Glengarda was located on Riverside Dr. E., just east of Pillette Rd.
