Description

Black and white photograph of the Windsor Fire Department in front of the station in 1893; there are a large number of firefighters standing on and around two horse-drawn fire trucks; all of the officers are wearing uniforms and hats; the officer third from the left in the photograph has been identified as Charles Brooks; the firefighters are standing in front of the fire hall on Pitt Street East, near Windsor Avenue; the building is at least two storeys high and constructed mostly of brick; the main storey has one small doorway and two wide, open doorways; the second storey has two tall arched windows above the wide doors and a stone carving with "Built AD 1887" engraved in it; there is a one-storey brick building to the right of the fire hall which may or may not be attached; the photograph is attached to a backing with scotch tape which has resulted in discolouration around the edges of the photo.
