Description: Black and white photograph of the interior of the Michigan Central Railroad Tunnel showing the wooden beams on the floor; the beams run horizontally from the bottom of the photo, through the centre and disappear into the tunnel; they are close together and there are two in each row, one on each side of the tunnel; on the right side there is a ledge near the top of the photograph with building supplies.
History: Construction began in 1906 and the tunnel under the Detroit River opened in 1910. Butler Bros. Construction Co. of New York City were contracted to complete the work.
