Black and white photograph of the Callithumpian Procession on Sandwich Street during the Old Boys Reunion; street car tracks run through the middle of the photograph and there is nothing standing on the left side of the tracks; street signs and spectators are partially visible on the very far side; on the right side of the tracks, facing away from the camera, there are several carts and horses; many of the cards appear to be cages; on the sidewalk on the right there are spectators and in the background there appears to be a large crowd waiting for the parade to arrive; buildings are visible on the right side of the street.

History

A callithump is defined as a somewhat riotous parade, accompanied with the blowing of tin horns, and other discordant noises; also, a burlesque serenade; a charivari.
