Description: Faded black and white photograph of the two-storey, wooden, Queen's Own Hotel, first hotel of J. Nantais; the hotel is a tall building with horizontal slats on the front of the building and vertical slats on the side; there are two distinct sections of the building: the piece on the left is shorter (1 1/2 storeys) with one doorway and a rectangular window to the left; a man and a woman (identified as Mr. & Mrs. Nantais, J. Nantais' parents) are standing in front of the doorway with a small dark coloured dog; the main portion of the hotel has a high peaked roof with a chimney in the centre; there is a tall flat section in front of the peak, blocking it from view of the road; there are two open rectangular windows on the second floor in the front (and two on the side) and two windows and a doorway on the main floor (two open windows on the side); painted on the front of the building is: "* J.Nantais Propr. Queens Own Hotel"; there is a man (presumably J. Nantais) standing in front of the doorway with a light coloured dog and there are nine barrels stacked beside the window; on the corner of the building there is a sign advertising the British American Brewing Company; the Nantais family is standing on a small porch (two steps) in front of which are two hitching posts with two small barrels on top; in front and to the left of the hotel there is a man sitting in a cart to which two horses are hitched; to the right of the hotel there is a tall wooden fence;
History: The Queen's Own Hotel was the first hotel run by J. Nantais and was located on Tecumseh Road.
