Black and white photograph of the Hirons House Hotel and St. Amour's Tavern; located on the north side of Riverside Drive between Station Street and Ouellette Avenue, the building was enlarged after the Great Fire of Windsor in 1871 and was thereafter known as the British American Hotel; the building pictured here is two and a half storeys high with a balcony on the second storey; there are four chimneys on the roof of the building and several people standing in the doorway and in the street; on the right side of the photograph is a horse pulling a cart; a dry-goods store (Mc Micken & Co Dry Goods& Clothing: Mc Michen, A is listed in the 1860 directory as a general merchant) is visible to the far left of the photo.
