Description

Labatt's Blue Pilsner "Stubby" beer bottle; sealed with original cap; some beer has evaporated out of the bottle.

History

In 1961 the "stubby" became the standard size for beer bottles nation wide. These bottles were shorter and had a slightly larger diameter than the now predominant longneck bottles. In 1962, almost all beer in Canada was sold in stubbies until the companies switched to American Longnecks between 1982-86. The reason for this switch was as a result of a survey that showed women did not like the stubby bottles. To attract more female clientelle the switch was made to the longneck format.
