Description

19th century brass-wall mounted oil lamp chimney holder from the Manitowoc Ferry; missing glass hurricane chimney; circular in shape, with decorative design around base.

History

According to donor, the lamp was obtained by the donor's grandfather, Harry L. Edmunds, who was employed as a cabin boy for the Grand Trunk RR working on the Manitowoc. When the Manitowoc was demolished, employees were given permission to take anything they liked from the ship. Mr. Edmunds obtained two brass wall lamps from the ship but later gave one to a fellow co-worker who was unable to get anything himself.
