Description

brown; two hinges on the clock and the face of the clock is gold and black on white; there is a key to wind the clock

History

"New England" clock made by Atkins and Downs of Bristol, Connecticut, about 1825-1835. Clocks were among the few item manufactured in the east that found their way into common homes this far west before the coming of the railroad. Even factory-made examples such as this one had wooden gears however.
