Arrow back; one back slat; one rung in back and front; arms have fully developed roll

History

The flattened, spear-shaped back spindles are derived from a device of the European Empire style, an elongated urn decorated with foliage. Originally painted black, with green striping and yellow foliate designs. The fully-developed roll of the arms is similar to that of the Boston rockers of c.1850.
