Description

(.01) grindstone(.02)water trough and frame, wooden frame and trough; light brown sandstone grindstone attached vertically; parts of wood have been painted black; large metal nails hold some pieces together; mortise and tenon frame construction; hand crank turns axle which sits in oiled channels notched in wooden blocks on frame; water plug in trough.

History

Originally owned by Pierre Houle, grandfather of Louis Houle (donor). "Peter" Houle received title from the Crown to the northwest half of the northwest half of lot 14, 9th concession, Dover East Township, March 16, 1880, and to the southwest half of the northwest half of the same lot, January 29, 1890
