Description

Two lower struts on each end; one upper arm on each end supports harness and beater. One vertical support on each end runs between upper strut and upper arm, around 12" from rear leg. Angle support on right end, between upper strut and rear leg, behind vertical support. This piece missing at left end. Each end a subassembly, mortise-and-tenon and pegged together. Connecting parts between end frames simply mortise-and-tenon together. Two crossbars at back. Warp reel mounted between rear legs, and cloth reel between upper struts, have locking bars for warp threads and cloth, respectively. Warp bar above warp reel, and cloth bar on tops of front legs. Provision for two harnesses and four treadles, but one set missing. Beater around 43" X 63.5" overall, fitted with machine-made reed, capable of weaving 45" wide. Two string heddles, around 47" wide. Handmade iron beater pivots, and ratchet at right end of cloth reel.

Purported to have belonged to ancestors of Mrs. Eugene King, Paincourt, Ontario.
