White cotton; high neck with eyelet ruffle; vertical bands of eyelet and tiny tucks at front yoke; long sleeves with eyelet ruffle at wrist; front opening from left shoulder to above waist, fastens with tiny fabric-covered buttons, edged with eyelet ruffle; handsewn; back and front are each one piece; larger vertical tucks from neckline at back.

History

On paper pinned to nightgown when donated: "This modest nightgown embroidered and tucked dates from the early nineties when clothes were made to last. It belonged to Mrs. A.D. Bowlby nee Edith Ellen Adams."
