Description

MISSING greasebox cover plate; steel; cast; rectangular; round perforated lug at the side from grease box in railroad car axle; 2 concentric relief circles centred on plate

History

Great Western Railway arrived here in 1854. Cars made in England, on wide gauge - Americans used standard gauge - therefore, after American & Canadian Systems were linked by bridge from Tonawanda over Niagara, Canada. Track laid down in 3 tracks - complicated switches. Gauge standardized in 1960's.
