History

The lamp was made at the Burlington Glass Works, Hamilton, Ontario. The executive of the firm during the period this type of lamp was produced, consisted of Murray A. Kerr, Lyman Moore, George Rutherford. The lamp dates c.1885-1909; a period which included the greater part of the glass now extant. The moulds for this type of lamp were use by several Ontario glass houses later controlled by the Diamond Glass company; the amalgamation of the Diamond Glass plants resulted in the Dominion Glass Company of today (including Wallaceburg). "We feel that this particular lamp could be dated to 1890. The assertion that this lamp was made by Burlington Works is based on excavated shards and source of the item." - Gerald Stevens, Nov. 13, 1959
