Description

Rosewood with dark brown varnish; beige fabric strip attaches pedal to organ (fabric nailed to underside of pedal); wooden, rectangular pedal is covered with black rubber stair treading; lid is hinged in the middle, folds back to reveal 50 ebony and ivory-topped keys; folding legs are held in folded position with turnscrews on underside on either end; picture wire runs down left front to peg attached to left front leg; three red fabric strips laid in recesses behind the keyboard; rectangular piece of oilcloth attached to wallpapered bottom plank of bellows.

History

Dates to the founding of All Saints' Anglican Church on City Hall Square. The church traces its beginnings to 1852, when the first Anglican services in Windsor were conducted in a school. The present church was opened in 1857. See also 984.10.2 Associated with the organ was the 1845 Canadian Church Psalmody - the property of "M. Richards". Mark Richards was a baker, who probably served as the church's first organist.
