Description

Desk model; black plastic; black metal dial, white background with black letters and red numbers; beige round paper sticker in centre (see Marks); receiver sits perpendicularly across top; black rubber coil cord from receiver to phone; black rubber-covered wire for plugging phone into jack; four triangular beige leather feet glued to bottom; clear shut-off button at bottom left corner.

History

From 1958 this was the museum's phone, until February 1980 when the receiver cord exposed bare wires. Bell Canada couldn't fix the cord, so the entire phone was replaced. It was decided to add the phone to the collection. Ear piece:patented 1942-1944 mouth piece: patented 1930,1932, 1934, 1936 interior base: patented 1939, 1946
