French Canadian cradle; framed with corner posts, into which sides and ends are mortised

History

Black walnut and cherry wood cradle, owned by Felix Poisson dit Lassaline and his wife Apollonie Villers dit St. Louis of Sandwich township, circa 1835-1840. Made in the 18th century Quebec style, this cradle is framed with corner posts, into which sides and ends are mounted. According to the donor the cradle has always been in this area. "Cradle. Always in this area - belonged to Mrs. St. Louis Family. First owner, Lassaline, then Lassaline, Parent, Hebert, St. Louis. Great grandmother, first Lassaline"
