History

The Queen's Rangers (1st American Regiment), which was the regiment was the second Queens' Ranger organized. It was first established at Chatham, in England in December 1791 at the suggestion of Col. John Graves Simcoe. Many of his old officers and other ranks re-joined this regiment and reached Quebec in May 1792. The regiment consisted of mostly tradesmen. The regiment was later stationed at Fort George and built Fort York and cut Younge Street up through the bush.
