History

This "Dagashin" prayer rug was from the estate of Mrs. Ellen Shipp, who passed away February 23, 1991, at the age of 105. She was born in England. At the time of her death, she had lived in Essex for at least 25 years, and she lived in Windsor before that. The rug was purchased from the Lady Pellatte Estate at Casa Loma, Toronto, June 25th 1924, by Mrs. Shipp's husband. At that time he was told it was approximately 400 years old. It is made of goats hair with no two patterns alike.
