brick

Materials

CLAY, UNKNOWN

Description

Orange clay; basically rectangular; broken in 2 pieces, .02 being slightly larger than .01. Grey mortar stuck to it (large chunk on end of .02).

History

Removed from the attic of the Francois Baby House by staff in 1980. The size variety implies that the bricks were not all used at the same time originally. Some may be original to the 1812 structure, others may be left over from repairs after the 1850 fire.
