(.1) Double bladed almost halfway up sword; Pas D'ane ring; finished grip; 1/2 basket; lion's head pommel; crown and anchor on shell; British coat of arms, crown and anchor, complicated design on blade (.2) Round flip-over buckle; hanger; two round brass loops; crown, anchor on buckle; linear and circular pattern on hanger

History

This is an Upper Canada Provincial Marine Officer's sword and belt (scabbard missing); 1827 pattern. Owned by Captain, the Hon. John Elmsly, who commanded armed vessels on the Great Lakes during the Upper Canada Rebellion, 1837 - 1838
