History: This is an Upper Canada Provincial Marine Officer's sword and belt (scabbard missing); 1827 pattern. Owned by Captain, the Hon. John Elmsly, who commanded armed vessels on the Great Lakes during the Upper Canada Rebellion, 1837 - 1838
