History

Used by the St. Louis family; perhaps originally owned by Francois Xavier Villers dit St. Louis and his wife Theodora Lauzon, who were married in 1822. Alex St. Louis, one of the leading farmers of Sandwich East, River Front, Lot 123. He was born on the present homestead May29, 1849. Son of Leon and Fannie (Janisse) St. Louis. The parents were both born in Sandwich East, in 1824, Mrs. St. Louis being the daughter of Hypolite and Jane (Drouillard) Janisse, who came from France in a very early day. Leon St. Louis was the son of Francois St. Louis and Theodore Lauzon. The former of whom was born in the township of Sandwich East, a descendent of one of the first families of France, and was a soldier in the war of 1812.
