Description

2 Pieces "Chariot Wheels and Church Windows" design patterned in indigo blue wool on natural cotton ground. Repeating pattern: nine-part tables connected diagonally by a large cross forming a circle with a central star; centre seam; no borders; upper edge raw; lower edge hemmed; comparatively modern fringe added across lower edge and down one side. This probably replaces an original added fringe at the side; weave - four-shaft overshot; ward - cotton, Z, 2s, natural (hand plied) - count - 10 ends per cm. weft - main, cotton, Z, natural pattern, wool, Z, 2s, dyed indigo blue proportion - 1:1 count per cm.
