Description

Crocheted beige, cotton yarn lined with beige fabric (linen/silk?); rectangular (short sides at bottom and top); several crocheted balls hang from bottom and from top corners; two crocheted handles sewn to top edge; thin beige cord drawstring through top of linging closes purse, ends with a tassel on each side; handstitches hold lining to exterior at top.

History

Belonged to Mrs. Nellie Newland (nee Baxter), wife of Samuel George Newland who was an engineer at Ford Motor Co. They lived at 1670 Grand Marais West and also at the northwest corner of Pelissier and Shepherd West (Windsor).
