Description

White cotton; neckline, armholes, and hem are edged with narrow white cotton lace trim; this trim forms the shoulder straps; low, round neckline at front and back; centre front and back neck have a triangular insert of white cotton lace; from beneath the breasts upwards is eyelet (front & back), below is plain; plain part is slightly gathered to the eyelet; side seams; machine sewn; front centre just above hem are 2 buttonholes.

History

Belonged to Mrs. Nellie Newland (nee Baxter), wife of Samuel George Newland who was an engineer at Ford Motor Co. They lived at 1670 Grand Marais West and also at the northwest corner of Pelissier and Shepherd West (Windsor).
