Description

Black leather lined with red linen; four compartments; flap closure; owner's name (see Marks) embossed in gold on flap.

History

Belonged to John Davis: who for five years filled the position of Mayor of Windsor, was born 1836 in Prescott Ontario. In 1863, he was appointed excise officer, and was advanced in 1872 and in 1888 to Chief Inspector of the Dominion until 1895 when, at his own request, was placed on the supernnuated list.
