White, thin cotton; Empire waist; skirt gathered to bodice; yoke hangs over waist seam; embroidered with whitework flowers; long sleeves; gathered at shoulders, notched at wrists, same whitework above notches; same whitework near hem; square neckline; plain hem; fastens at back slit with 3 snaps; machine and handsewn.

History

According to donor, these dresses (993.10.1-.3) and slip (993.10.4) were either hers or an older sibling's (as a baby). They were made by her mother, Violet Dougherty. The family lived in Sarnia before moving to WIndsor in the 1920s. Donor was born Dec. 28 1919.
