Description

(.01) Bell: round bell inside a wooden frame; frame is made up of 2 sides and a top piece connecting them and a crosspiece nailed to the sides across the centre back; bell is bolted to the top piece; bell and most of the frame are painted black (some parts are natural wood); hole in top of frame, in which is a piece of thick wooden doweling tipped with a cap of red rubber. (.02) Pedal: brass; shaped like a very large nail; cylindrical body with round, flat head; head had engraved crosshatching; quite heavy.

History

Donor says that Emily Irving is said to have taken the last ride on the street car in Windsor. Bell is housed in home made of black painted wooden housing which curator is planning to preplace
