Description

White cotton; full-length; elbow-length sleeves are cut as part of the bodice, edged with narrow lace trim; high waist; skirt is gathered to bodice at waist; eyelet trim at front bodice and around hem; scalloped hem; back slit opening with no apparent fastener; machine sewn.

History

The skirt of c.1900 is much longer than a baby. It could be folded under the child and pinned closed. Straight pins were used, often with painful results for the infant.
