Description

White cotton; round neckline with round yoke; lace insert edged with a flounce; trimmed with tiny tucks; flounce comes to a point at each side at back; long sleeves gathered at shoulders and wrist; edged with lace; back slit opening with 2 snap fasteners; many many rows of tucks at hem; also one lace band; edged with scalloped lace at hem; no waist seam; machine sewn.

History

According to donor, these dresses (993.10.1-.3) and slip (993.10.4) were either hers or an older sibling's (as a baby). They were made by her mother, Violet Dougherty. The family lived in Sarnia before moving to WIndsor in the 1920s. Donor was born Dec. 28 1919.
