Description

Military general service medal for service during the siege of Detroit. Round, silver medal on a burgundy and blue grosgrain ribbon; relief images on front and back (see Marks).

History

From the J. Mercer Quarrie estate. Presented to J. Willson, Captain in the Canadian militia, in 1848, for his service during the siege of Detroit in 1812. Service Medal for Fort Detroit 1793-1814 issued to 200 of the Essex Militia (then the 21st Battalion of infantry.
