Description

Framed watercolour (wooden frame covered with glass); shows round, brick mill in centre in a meadow; fence and trees in background; as the mill appeared on the 28th (?) May, 1881; shades of green, beige, brown; hand-printed description beneath (see Inscription).

History

The mill was built in 1803. Sketched by Captain James Van Cleve, who presented it to his old friend Sheriff John McEwan, who was looking on when the original sketch was being made.
