Description

reddish beads, brass wire links, brass metal and aluminum metal; Aluminum depicts Madonna and child, reverse 12 stars, cross, "M" and two hearts; Brass medal depicts Madonna standing, similar symbol to Aluminum medal reads:"OUR LADY OF VICTORY PRAY FOR US/PRIEZ POUR NOUS MARIE CONCUE SANS PECHE"; incomplete; two groups, 10 beads, 1 group of 8 beads

History

A rosary from the Macdonald Collection. English inscription, and use of aluminum suggest late 18th century as earliest date. Our Lady of Victory, the Quebec parish. Complete Rosary should have five groups of ten beads each plus a medallion to which the ends of the long string is attached and from which a group of three beads, on single bead and a crucifix are suspended.
