History

Donor's wife, Harriet Lowry Cross, was a daughter of Mr. R.R. Lowry from Norfolk county. Made for the birth of John Lowry in 1849. This style of rocker was common almost everywhere in pioneer Upper Canada. The extremely low seat was for the comfort of a mother holding a baby in her arms.
