Description

White cotton half slip; box pleated to waistband at back, sewn smoothly to it at front; back slit opening fastens with 1 button on waistband; wide flounce; groups of tiny vertical tucks and vertical bands of lace; below are 4 horizontal bands of different lace, below which is a band of scalloped lace; layer underneath is another flounce, mostly plain, bottom trimmed with narrow scalloped lace; side seams; machine sewn.

History

Belonged to Mrs. Nellie Newland (nee Baxter), wife of Samuel George Newland who was an engineer at Ford Motor Co. They lived at 1670 Grand Marais West and also at the northwest corner of Pelissier and Shepherd West (Windsor).
